Now, many of us have universally agreed that child shaming is against the spirit of Antinatalism, and belongs to a place such as the subreddit KidsAreFuckingStupid, and not this sub (in fact, milking unconsenting children for karma is one very questionable activity in general).
However, that leaves the question: how about the parents? Should attacking and eyerolling at social media posts that show parents being happy about their offspring be allowed here? Personally, I donāt approve of this behavior, but we can see many defending the practice.
Another question is, should the exception be made for abusive parents? Some may argue that posting hate against abuse is different from posting hate against parents in general. I still feel like places such as the Facepalm subreddit are better places for such content.

I know I have no proof, but I just think of my own experiences growing up during the late naughties and early 10's, before the #metoo movement. And I'm sure any women who grew up around that time can relate. Imagine that completely multiplied, no education on sex or consent at all. Living in a completely uncivilised environment. Probably being scared somebody could kill you or be violent to you if you didn't comply.
There probably wouldn't have really been a word for it back then, but I'm convinced, not all, but at least a good chunk of sex back then would have been more or less rape. Or at least a situation where the women felt she probably didn't have a choice and just had to go through with it.
This is such a bad argument for many reasons anyway, there was no birth control or the option of abortion back then, or even decent sex education. Think the film Blue Lagoon, where they don't know what there doing and have no education so they don't understand why they've had a baby.
Heck a lot of woman died back then during childbirth if you really wanna go back to "nature." š

Antinatalist Trip ReportThis is my post from r/shrooms. Iād commented on something about 2 weeks ago saying how I had an antinatalist trip awhile back and I feel like what happened this Friday would be a good follow up to it.
I took 7 grams and about 20 minutes in they started to kick in. I had my eyes closed and was laying in the dark and it felt like everything inside me was pulsing. I managed to not throw up but it was a struggle. I could feel my lower legs just twitching and convulsing (side note: Iāve done Ayahuasca before and there was a night when I asked to be healed but please only take on a project that could be completed that night and there was a fair amount of twitching and convulsing to the point it was painful and the shaman said that was my body releasing trapped energy so Iām wondering if that was the same thing). I got myself into my side and wrapped myself up in a blanket cocoon.
It was dark and warm and I felt just so connected to the divine Goddess (Iād been with her before on mushrooms and I asked to see her again). It was the calmest most peaceful thing Iād ever felt and I kept telling her I loved her and she loved me too. Then I was all of a sudden ripped away from her and I had this human body that Iām not even supposed to have (Iāve made posts before how this just doesnāt feel right and it wouldnāt change if I was a man/different race/animal). I remembered all the times as a kid my parents (especially my mom) blamed me for stuff I didnāt do or stuff that kids just do and itās unrealistic to expect them not to do. I realized then that it was just easier for her to have an outside source to blame for her problems instead of being mad at herself/society. And that outside source happened to be me. The tears started to flow and I cried so much that my boyfriend came in to check on me. I told him I was okay and he couldnāt do anything to change anything and I had to let it out. I seriously didnāt understand how somebody who claimed to love me could do that to me. I remembered how sad and betrayed I was the first time I had to go to nursery school because I just wanted to be with my mom but that wasnāt an option. I thought some more about how being alive entails you having to do a bunch of stuff you donāt want to do and how it hurts others and how by just fucking existing I hurt others. Like I need to eat and even if I was a vegetarian plants still have spirits too and just because theyāre not able to talk or express stuff in ways humans understand doesnāt mean they donāt not want to be alive.
I thought about how even at an animal level this whole existing thing is just stupid. Mice just multiply and multiply and will decimate any and all grain reserves and thatās why we have snakes. But Iām sure the mother mouse doesnāt want to watch her babies die. The snakes need to eat too and thereās no way to do this while existing thing without hurting anybody. I thought about how none of this should exist and God is an absolute idiot for setting it up like this. Anybody who thinks God is the only divine power and is all knowing is full of crap if they actually think about it. If you read the Epic of Gilgamesh there are lots of different gods and they have drama and fight and do nice things but they also do fucked up things and I honestly think thatās the closest to how it actually is because how else would a system thatās so flawed come to be?
I thought about how is there any way to just not exist and I remembered that I wrote a picture book and even if I were to die and people would forget about me thereās still that book in the Library of Congress. Damn it. Still I thought I would try to free myself from this horrible system. I thought about how if I did anything drastic Iād still get blamed for causing problems and I didnāt want to give my family the satisfaction of that. I thought about how if I were to get hit by a car or have a venomous snake bite me the blame would just shift to that person/animal when that wouldnāt be fair to them because I would have wanted it/willed it to happen. There wasnāt any way to not exist and have it be like none of this ever happened and that just pissed me off.
I was told I was a pretty angry kid and I was thinking about that too. No shit. You took me away from Goddess Mommy to bring me to this earth where I feel like I donāt belong to blame me for your life not turning out the way you wanted it to on top of making me do a whole bunch of stuff I donāt want to do and then making me feel like a burden for wanting to do stuff that I was encouraged to do in the first place. Yeah Iām going to be fucking mad about it. I rolled over and looked at the swirling portals above me and tried to make them come close enough that I could go in them in an attempt to find something that actually made more sense but they wouldnāt come off of the walls/ceiling. The more I stared at them the more eyes I noticed watching me in the background. I was a little scared at first but then I just stared glaring back at them. I asked them what the hell they thought was going to happen and yeah Iām fucking mad at this whole situation.
I then got stuck and couldnāt blink or close my eyes and I heard myself say āI donāt understand humans at all.ā I know that sounds odd to say coming from a human mouth but it felt like it made so much sense when it came out. Like I was something else that for whatever reason had a human body and was just here for research purposes to try and understand them more. I knew I didnāt belong here but I still didnāt understand what I was and how to make the situation any better. Thereās a coworker I have who has mentioned how much her son just really hates humans and has been like that throughout his life (Iāve offered him my friendship through her and she said sheād pass my offer along but I havenāt heard anythingā¦I did say it wouldnāt hurt my feelings if he said no) so Iām wondering if there are others like me.
I do have an appointment for a tubal litigation next month and this has made me 100% sure that Iām doing the right thing. Iām not bringing any other sentient being into this mess. I havenāt met my kids because they wonāt exist but I hope they can feel how much I love them by protecting them from all the hurt. I told them that I loved them so much and I wasnāt going to force them to suffer because thatās really the only 100% guaranteed thing about being alive. Iām not going to hurt the planet by bringing more humans into it. I was thinking about the line in the Matrix where Smith is taunting Morpheus about hoe humans are more like a virus than anything else because they just keep replicating and replicating for the sake of replicating. Iām not like that and the rest of the world/my family/society can hate me but I feel like I actually see this issue for what it is whereas theyāre just so indoctrinated that they canāt look at the facts. My future kids will be safe forever soon.

what a shitty situationWell, my fiance's friend from elementary just moved abroad with her boyfriend (it's about 1k kilometers from our country). We've been recently invited to meet her in her new house, but here's the problem.
Today my fiance told me she's pregnant and got her delivery date. She's not even 19. And she wants to keep the child, which for me is of course fucking ignorant and selfish.
I don't want to come to house and get into any conversation with her, I also don't want to stay home alone for about 3 weeks.
What should I do man?

Just showing my appreciation for this subIf it wasn't for r/antinatalism, I would've thought I was condemned to stay alone and alienated forever because of my core values, and that people like me couldn't be found anywhere. The problem with that notion is that there's literally no guarantee that will ever be accomplished. This universe doesn't belong to us. The universe doesn't exist of our own free will. The laws of physics don't care about what we what. The idea of circumventing the laws of physics presupposes that there's some sort of metaphysical backdoor that exists in the first place. We shouldn't continue having children just based on the optimism that there's a " chance" we can conquer the very nature of time and space.

Are you struggling with this?So I'm working in a place where pretty much everyone has a child/children. A lot of the things I hear throughout the day just leave dumbfounded.
Now I've been able to somewhat tolerate it until recently. For a while now I have really started to feel overwhelmed about spending most of my days in the middle of these people who live in this totally different reality and to me they are just bad people. The fact that they have given birth to someone without their consent is one thing, but the fact that these people are always complaining about something and asking for understanding is something that I can't comprehend.
The main point is HOW do these people who are so bitter and tired all the time live with the fact that their children will go through these same things just like them? I don't even know which option is worse: Them not realizing what they do to others(their children) or that they know but just don't simply care.
And yes I'm considering quitting, I just have to take care of couple things first. But I'm also scared that I will never be able to work with people who are parents, because I just feel uneasy around them knowing what they have done, and It's effecting my ability and willingness to work with them. With some things you can just be a professional about it, but feeling so strongly about this makes it so hard.

My Abusive Church Forced Me to BreedI wanted to share my POV in this group, as someone who came to antinatalism **after** having children.
I grew up in an ultra-conservative Christian cult (Mormonism). I don't use the term "cult" loosely, but it does accurately convey the situation in which I was raised - especially viewed against the [BITE model](https://freedomofmind.com/cult-mind-control/bite-model/).
I have two children a 4yo and a 2yo, whom I love more than literally anything in the world and do not remotely regret having them. In fact, I wouldn't have left the Mormon church were it **not** for them being born.
Like a lot of Christian religions, Mormonism really drives hard the "multiply and replenish the earth" talking points, with the added wrinkle of believing in a "pre-earth life." In a very crazy nutshell, God's plan (according to Mormonism) is for our pre-existing spirits to come to earth, gain a physical body, and then proceed on to heaven and wait for the 2nd coming of Christ. And while on Earth, part of your job is to help as many of your spirit siblings gain their bodies as well, which is part of why Mormons notoriously have LOTS of kids.
Good-believing Mormons are having more and more kids because they truly believe they're doing their part for "God's plan." This was the plan, this was how I was raised and told that you WILL find a young woman and get married and you WILL have children that you "raise in the gospel." And I did exactly that.
Once my children came into my life, I began reflecting on the childhood that I had and the abuse I suffered at the hands of religious leaders. I very quickly realised that this "church" was a cult and did everything in my power to get my wife and kids out - which I have successfully done. I got heavily into reddit through the r/exmormon sub and that's eventually what brought me to this community.
I think there's a LOT of hate for "BREEDERS" in this sub, and almost an instant vitriol for anybody who even associates with children. But I think there are a lot of people like myself who weren't given the option to NOT have children. I wasn't raped, or taken against my will, or forced to breed - but I truly succumbed to the ridiculous brainwashing of a cult. It wasn't until **after** having children and leaving the church did I realise that maybe I didn't truly want them - but until that point in my life (early 30s) I wasn't given the mental latitude to even explore such a decision.
I appreciate that this can seem like a ridiculous situation for a lot of the folks in this sub - but I wanted to illustrate a different POV on what brings people to antinatalism and perhaps lend a voice to fellow parents who participate here.

I'll try to keep this short. I had a [1967 Impala 4 door](https://i.imgur.com/HLBPpTF.jpg) that I bought in Feb 2019. A couple months ago I bought my first house that had a 2.5 car garage. I moved the car in and started tearing it down for a complete restoration. I had the body in one bay and the chassis in another, plus the whole garage filled with parts. About two months ago my girlfriend came to live with me during this whole crisis and the whole time has hated that car. She wants to park in the garage but I have 2 acres of land with a lot of nice places to park under shady trees or hell even in the barn if it has to be inside. I tell her tough luck its my house and its not like I can just throw it back together real quick. Anyways I was out of town for a couple days on a business trip for the small local company I work for. When I got back, my girlfriend was all smiles. Making me food all the time, doing all the chores, all that. I though maybe she just was happy to have me home but then I realized that I didn't see her car in it's usual spot. I asked her where she parked so I could make sure I mow that area and keep it clean and she said not to worry because she parked in the garage. I asked how and she told me to go check it out. Turns out that while I was gone she hired some people to come over and move everything related to that car, including the drivetrain, body, and chassis and all parts, and take it to the local dump/scrapyard. I was absolutely dumbfounded. I had spent over 11k on that car including new parts, services, and the car itself. I told her that I was going to be taking her to court for that and she brushed me off like I was being dramatic. I told her that its done between us and to pack her things and leave. I admit I was a really angry but I did end up getting a lawyer, and as I have all the receipts for all that money spent and I have her on my house's security cam footage letting the guys in and watching them take it all I think I can win. Her family and friends are absolutely blowing me up saying its just a stupid old piece of junk and that she cannot pay back all that money I spent, and that I should just let it go. But I have been putting all my time, effort, and money into that car for a year and a half now and goddammit if I am not going to get justice for what she did. AITA

HUGE UPDATE : THEY FOUND MY GODDAMN CAR!! the junkyard guys apparently were in the middle of hiding it when the police came to ask them questions. it was on a forklift and they were gonna put it on top of a pile of cars that was hidden behind more piles of cars. they said it was theirs and they had the title, but obviously didnt have the title for it and since they matched the vin on the chassis and body to the vin on my title, it was obviously mine. I know at least one person there has been arrested, i think he was in the camera footage i talked about earlier but idk if it was the boss or whomever or even his specific charge, they also told me they would be looking into this specific junkyard for any other vehicles reported stolen. they said they haven't been able to get in contact with my ex just yet but they're working on it. im just so glad they found my car. luckily i made quite an album of pictures detailing me tearing down the car and so i can use that to prove what parts they had were mine so i can hopefully get most or all of it back. police haven't let me take it back home yet as they say it is evidence or something so hopefully i can get it back eventually. thank you all so much for the support and advice! So I live in a city with a high homless population paired with alot of drug use and mental illness it's not uncommon to go out and see open drug use in public even in the higher end areas. This is in British Columbia too so healthcare is free ontop of that our government and police don't really do anything about it so long as they don't actually do anything to harm the public. People are always complaining about the drug use and theft on social media. This leads to people complaining about how they don't want their tax dollars going towards their healthcare and how it should go towards tougher enforcement.

I think parents should have to pay their kids education and pay for their childbirth due to it being their own choice. But what do I know.

But when you look into filicides, there is almost always a background of abuse, trauma, and stress. No one wants to talk about the stress of having children and how that fits into mental health. Can the quality of a human life be good enough so that all things considered it is better to be born?I think there a a lot of good arguments when it comes to antinatalism but there is one thing where i am not really sure i agree with. According to the asymmetry argument as soon as there is any amount of suffering/pain in a persons life it would be better for that person if the person never existed. But when i think about a life that contains almost only pleasure and just a little bit of pain then it does not make sense to me how one could argue that it would be better if that life never existed. I think a large proportion of humanity have lifes that are filled which much more than just a little bit of pain and for a large proportion of humanity it would indeed be better if they never existed. But there are some human lifes which have a much higher quality than the ordinary humans. So maybe 1% of the human population have a much higher quality than the rest because they are for example: rich, blessed with very good genetics, very beautiful or just are very lucky in life. Are even these lifes on balance so bad that it would be better for them if they never existed. If you could theoretically could start life all over again but you know this time you will have a the best quality of life a human can have things go as perfect as they can be and you suffer the minimum amount possible so you have no extreme sickness and die painlessly in your sleep, would you do it? Do you think a quality of a human life can ever be enough so that all things considered the existence for this individual human is better than never existing?

I am an antinatalist but will most of you antinatalists on here view me as a natalist If I am more likely to prefer having a biological child over adopting a child?A common narrative among many antinatalists is that most of us embrace the idea that it is always much better to adopt children rather than have biological children. I don't want children at all and I understand that the act of procreation can be unethical, under certain circumstances, but if, **hypothetically**, there was a **scenario or a situation** in which I was absolutely forced against my will to have children, Am I suddenly a natalist simply because I prefer to have them through biological means? Assuming the government forced people to have children, giving us two options, biologically or through adoption, Why is it so bad if you prefer to have your own biological child instead of raising another man's child and dealing with his baggage? I find it a bit "beta" and "weak" to invest your wealth, and resources towards raising other people's children, essentially fulfilling their own responsibilities and duties of biological parents instead of allocating your own finances to where it is more necessary. Besides, adopting a child can be very expensive and cost a lot of money in some states, which would make some people prefer their own biological children. What do you all think? There have been an influx of posts unrelated to antinatalism on this subreddit. I am attempting to offer a solution to that with a new subreddit r/QuitHavingKidsThereās been so many posts on here that donāt have much to do at all with antinatalism. To be fair, there arenāt any other communities for people who think that having kids is morally wrong in most or all scenarios. I just made the subreddit r/QuitHavingKids to try and remedy this situation. That way, all of the people on here that arenāt actually antinatalists can slowly integrate into a different community which is tailored more to their beliefs, and donāt contribute to the misconceptions about antinatalism.
To be clear, this community would be for 2 types of people mostly.
1) people who think having kids is wrong in ALL circumstances, be it for philosophical reasons, environmental reasons, etc.
2) People who think that having kids is only acceptable in certain scenarios, such as if you are economically stable, have good genetics, etc.
For clarification, any antinatalist could be apart of the QuitHavingKids community, but not everyone in that community is an antinatalist.

When they can alter our very minds, shoot psychic messages through the umbilical cord to the brain and then flood it with hallucinogens? Thus bending the mother's mind to its will. The baby starts to direct the mother's behavior, telling her where to go, what to do, like a... puppeteer with a marionette. And it gets worse. The baby needs food to live, so it begins to devour its host from within, replacing the mother's flesh with its own. But it doesn't let its mother die, no. It... It keeps her alive by preventing decomposition until the consciousness is fully transferred. Its birth evolved. no longer the need for the baby to be forced into a hostile environment in a weakened body when it can just take over its hosts.
