I don't think that Amaury has been installing web servers and coding html pages. Most likely some hopeful future IFP tax recipient did all that work and then showed the work to Amaury for 👍 or 👎.

Amaury is a glorified Charlie Lee. He keeps copying Bitcoin Core code and spends the rest of his time playing politics for personal gain.

You didn't say what year you got involved in Bitcoin even though I asked you. I don't want to say what year I got involved in Bitcoin just like you.

It's better to freeze the protocol. Freezing the protocol makes soft forks impossible too because we will fight all soft fork attempts and everyone will know we will fight them so they won't even try them. If governments succeed in forcing a majority of the miners to censor some transactions then it's game over anyway. It's better to freeze the protocol and declare that any "censoring of transactions soft fork" will be fought against by everyone so there's no benefit to even try such soft forks. The constant loss of adoption due to the constant splits has already almost stagnated BCH growth. There's no point in having BCH if it's growth is stagnated just like BTC's growth has been stagnated due to their 1MB limit. It doesn't matter what the reason for stagnation is. 1MB limit or constant splitting. Any kind of stagnation kills a currency.

Sure. A whole assed stress test is better than a half assed which is better than no stress test at all. The most likely thing that would happen would be that we run into either a soft or hard blocksize limit. It's worth doing a half assed stress test about once a year if no one has done a whole assed stress test for about a year.

I agree with everything you wrote in that article. The moment we underestimate and ignore our opponent is the moment our opponent wins and we lose. You made a good example (Theranos Elisabeth Holmes) how successful propaganda can be at fooling investors who have a limited time to research claims. Another example is the Bernie Madoff investment scam. It's a good idea to watch the Theranos Elisabeth Holmes documentary and Bernie Madoff ("The Wizard of Lies") movie about how propaganda and lying works unexpectedly well. They should be available on either HBO or Netflix and everyone should watch them before saying "just ignore the trolls." They're not always "trolls." Often they're lying opponents, competitors or even saboteurs who are doing anything and everything to win against us.

Just do a stress test for 24 hours in a row about once a year. It's more interesting to know BCH's true maximum tps capacity and how it evolved year after year. We've already made such a test once and ABC started breaking at around 23MB sustained blocks IIRC? So a 1MB test would say nothing new.

You don't get something new for free. You pay a heavy price for those free altcoins. The price you pay is reduced adoption and network effect. BCH will never win against the fiat currencies if BCH keeps splitting everytime it's grown a little bit. Just imagine how high the market cap and user adoption of BCH would've been if people would've never split into BTC, BSV and ABC. It would've been used by almost everyone by now 11 years after the genesis block. That's the price you paid and are paying for your "free" altcoins.

Don't make splits easier. BCH should be hard to change not easy to change. Preferably the rules should not be changed at all anymore because changes are made by humans and humans are corruptible. Being hard (or preferably impossible) to change is a feature not a bug. Freeze the protocol or catastrophic changes like the IFP are likely to happen sooner or later. And yes BSV is just a scam.

Yes it would be interesting to see how many tps BCH can handle in real life about once a year. The results could be used as good and simple marketing. Otherwise it's just "my word against your word." It's quicker and easier for everyone to just point at the BCH blockchain for an objective easy to understand proof of actual capacity.

The miners already voted 0% yes to the IFP when almighty Amaury let them vote the last time. What makes you think they'll suddenly vote yes to the IFP this time? The miners clearly don't want the IFP. Your only chance to win is if the exchanges give the BCH ticker to you and the ignorant masses follow the ticker like they did with the BTC ticker. But even if you win, the result will be that you changed BCH into just another fiat currency. Not exactly "a win."

It would be interesting to see a timeline with dates and times for when the bug was first originally discovered, reported to Core and ABC, to when ABC finally fixed the bug. "At the time" is a bit unspecific.

So it's normal to take a bit of code, keep looking at it for 6 months, maybe make a few changes and then merge it into your own project even though new code has already been released from the source you're copying from? 6 months feels a little bit long. But I don't know what's normal so maybe it's normal that it takes so much time for a backport to actually be merged. In that case it's normal to constantly lag 6 months behind the project you're copying from and bugs such as this one are likely to be copied and remain unfixed for 6 months. Is there a way to avoid this scenario from happening every time a bug is secretly reported to everyone who has the bug? Because ABC will probably not be notified because they won't have the bug yet while the bug finder is looking for who has and who hasn't the bug. Or do bug finders notify projects such as ABC just in case because they expect that the bug will be copied but just hasn't been copied yet?

Thank you for doing that. It's more important for BCH than people realize. People are easily fooled and even more so when no one is even contradicting all the constant lies. If they can read the truth too then at least they have a chance to reach the correct conclusions. The saboteaurs can't censor /r/btc like they could with /r/bitcoin so the next best thing is to spread the meme that everyone should be positive and not focus on the negative and just ignore the trolls etc. That's just the next best way to stop people from exposing their lies and many BCH people seem to be falling for that trick unfortunately. But at least people like you aren't falling for it. People like /u/georgedonnelly have fallen for it though.

The only conclusion I can think of in that case is that they've already accepted the fact that they'll be losing the BCH ticker on November 15th and that they're already trying to hurt their competition which is and will be BCH. Otherwise they would consider something that's good for BCH to also be good for them and just be happy about your BCH promoting videos and not fight to have them removed. You could see that as an admission of defeat actually. It's going to be interesting to see if sanity will prevail on November 15th or if everything will go to shit for everyone.

Any plans on creating an uncensorable /r/btc alternative outside of Reddit as a backup in case Reddit admins ever ban the /r/btc sub for a bullshit reason and don't reverse their decision? /r/bitcoin was uncensored until suddenly one day it wasn't and it decimated our community causing the small blockers to win the BTC ticker. It's interesting that they reported and banned you on a Friday probably hoping that Reddit admins would've been home not working over the weekend so the ban would last as long as possible before an admin would see the obviously wrongful ban and reverse it. Seems to be very calculated sabotage. Was it a human Reddit admin that banned you for calling someone a pussy or was it an automatic ban solely based on the number of (sock puppet) Reddit accounts that pressed the report button? What did the banning admin say was the reason if it was a human admin that banned you? Surely it couldn't have been simply for calling someone a pussy because then it's best to hurry up developing uncensorable Reddit alternatives because it would only be a matter of time before the admins banned the sub itself for any ridiculous reason.

It's very risky. Just look at all the conflicts about how Bitcoin should work. Leaders and rules keep changing. Anything can happen at any time because the rules of cryptocurrencies are decided by humans not software. Only spend as much on cryptocurrencies as you would otherwise have spent on buying lottery tickets. The odds of profiting from cryptocurrencies are better than lottery tickets but worse than traditional high risk investments.

I haven't mined myself so I don't know exactly how they do it but I know that it's as easy as changing a setting in the software. They don't have to change the full node source code or anything that inconvenient.

Ok so it seems unlikely that Chris will force BCHD to implement IFP but it's still his decision so we can't know for sure yet like we can with BCHN.

No. All full nodes leave the coinbase text message empty by default so it's not possible to know which full node software a miner is actually using. Miners can easily choose what text to put there and it doesn't have to be a true message. As far as I know though, so far no miner has ever written that they run one full node software but actually run another. There are other ways to discover what full node software a miner has been using. There was a bug in ABC last year that caused everyone that used ABC to mine empty blocks for about 60 minutes but that bug didn't affect for example BU. So during those 60 minutes it was possible to see who was actually using ABC or not ABC. But such bugs happen very rarely and there are no other ways to know what actual node a miner is using. No liars were discovered during those 60 minutes last year so I assume lying is rare or hasn't even happened at least not yet.

Don't encourage bad security practices. Having a database of cryptocurrency users' email addresses is a gold mine for hackers who are looking for coins to steal. The majority of people will likely use the same email address that they use on exchanges everywhere and not just on exchanges. Then those email addresses become targets because they can often be used for password reset requests and identity theft for users who are not using 2FA and other extra protection. Most users also use only one password everywhere and often a password that's easy to guess or brute force. All databases eventually leak. The most vulnerable and naive users are the most likely to opt-in. So don't encourage that behavior when it's completely unnecessary.

I'm sure Roger will tweet where his new /r/btc alternative will be if /r/btc gets banned. There's no need to collect people's email addresses for that. Don't collect data on people that's not necessary. Just make sure to develop an open source Reddit alternative that's uncensorable not just uncensored. Then censorship won't keep happening over and over again like it always has historically. Storing the data on the BCH blockchain in an open format and everyone being able to choose their own moderator or moderation team with the ability to change them at any time would be a good new thing to try. Like memo.cash or member.cash seem to be trying. More clients for those protocols would be good just like more node clients for BCH would be good. Decentralize power to make it less likely to become abused eventually.

Yes, wtf /u/memorydealers. Copyrights are enforced by governments which you claim you hate. You're being inconsistent when you say copyrights are a good thing for society and governments bad. Copyrights are obviously a bad thing too. But as a copyright owner I guess you conveniently like them. Would you like the patent system too if you would've been granted a patent? You're not a very principled man. Please think again and reach different conclusions. BCHN is open source which is the opposite of copyright.

Getting censored by Reddit admins for calling someone a pussy? That's the definition of being a pussy. Reddit admins are pussies. Competing uncensorable forums to Reddit need to be created. Reddit is rich on features, functionality and convenience but that's all pointless when they have the power to censor and selectively abuse that power. The next forum owners must not be able to have that power or it's inevitable that that power will be abused too eventually. Another ring of power that must be destroyed because no human is uncorruptible. Giving such a ring to the next human will solve nothing and just repeat the same series of events.

At 3:02 you (Collin) say that developer funding will have to come from outside the protocol from people who want to pay for what they want as it always has been since 2009. That's somewhat true but it's important to also be aware of that Satoshi and the earliest node devs were never funded in any way. It was assumed from the start that node devs would simply either mine or buy a few coins, work for free for a few years, and then have enough money of their own to do whatever they want with the rest of their lives. Some node devs would be satisfied to start Netflix and chill while others would want to buy a second lambo and keep coding on the node so that price would keep going up. It wasn't until the founding of Blockstream that some people started trying to change the funding narrative for their own personal quick gain and no personal risk. Then Amaury succeed in 2017-2020 to change the funding narrative to it being completely necessary that node devs get funding either from other people or directly from the protocol. Just wanted to point that out.

It's not PoW governance. It's community governance. Or P2P governance if you want to fit it in a tweet. The miners aren't the only ones in power deciding the rules of BCH. The whole community is. Whatever the majority of the BCH community decides will happen, will happen. There are more groups of community members than the miner group. Ultimately holders decide what to buy and what to sell. Holders will buy a product that's actually useful and sell what product turns out to not work. It may take a while but will happen eventually.

The total revenue for all SHA256 miners will go down by 0.022\*0.08=1.76%. The miners will turn off 1.76% of their machines because they don't want to burn electricity that they are no longer paid to 🔥. The effect on miner profitability will be exactly the same as if the price of BTC+BCH has gone down by 1.76%. (Note that there's a difference between revenue and profit.)

The total hash will have changed. It will have reduced. The miners will turn off some of their machines if you pay them less and the total hash will have gone down. The IFP takes some of the block reward and gives it to Amaury so the miners will be paid less. The miners only spend the electricity that they get paid to 🔥.

Mining pools often don't update all of their servers at once if there's no immediate rush. They like to update a few servers first and monitor them for a while to see if there's any problems. If they see no problems then they update more of their servers until all of them have been updated. Unexpected downtime is very expensive for pools and miners. They need to be mining 24/7 because mining equipment loses value very quickly and they don't want to lose market share.

You fire a bad employee. You don't keep a bad employee due to sunk cost fallacy. Those guys are probably used to stop paying for bad employees because that's a necessary part of running a company and only companies that are firing bad employees become big. Their companies are big so this is probably no biggie for them. Sunk cost fallacy is more of a problem for people who don't have the daily experience of running a big business. Let's hope I'm right because then those guys are likely to cut their losses and keep growing both their businesses and BCH.
