Mempool is the piece of memory, where the client software keeps unconfirmed transactions, before they are minted in a block. The client software ships with the default size set at 300MB. It is important to understand, that this size relates to the transactions when they are kept in memory, and in that state, transactions occupy several times more memory, then when in a block. This means that a mempool of 300MB of RAM size, is only able to keep 30 to 50MB of transactions. When the mempool fills up, the min fee is increased for new transactions to be included in mempool and relayed, and when such tx arrives, some old transaction with lower fee is deleted from the mempool. This increased fee is later, when the mempool clears, reduced to default value, but this can take hours. This makes mempol of your client to be inconsistent with other clients on the network, and this means that block propagation methods used (compact blocks, xthin, graphene) are not efficient anymore. Some data from the last stress test: mempool, tx size, and memory usage size https://statocashi.info/d/000000006/memory-pool?orgId=1&from=1541843648783&to=1541876316812 Transactions accepted vs rejected https://statocashi.info/d/000000008/transactions?orgId=1&from=1541838180515&to=1541880124139 Fee estimates (not for mempool admition, but still gives you the overview of what happened) https://statocashi.info/d/000000016/fee-estimates?orgId=1&from=1541694903018&to=1541721255959

https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/48s7sd/rbitcoin_mods_silently_deleted_my_post_average/

rbitcoin Mods silently deleted my OP from my yesterday's post at https://np.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/48m9xq/average_confirmation_times/ (81 points (81% upvoted)) user seweso, author of that spreadsheet, asked if I could (dare ;) post that in rbitcoin. After few hours it was no. 1 post there, and at that point it was removed from front page, and my comment deleted also, without any notice to me. I still see it only when logged under my name. (but not when private browsing) Here it is: >/u/seweso used data from blocktrail.com to calculate the average waiting times for the last 1000 blocks: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aYfkjiN534p4zyE5WJNm7rddr84KS_e50EFTYJqj5jQ/edit#gid=1463201895 >99.16% transactions which have 0.00005 BTC/Kb fees and higher have the average confirmation time of 43 minutes! >You all know this chart from Blockchain.info https://blockchain.info/charts/avg-confirmation-time. By the link name we would expect that it will show us average time transactions wait for first confirmation. >But it's actually a median time, and only considers transactions which have already confirmed, excluding transactions which may have been sitting in the mempool for hours. link to original discussion here at r/btc: https://np.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/48m211/average_confirmation_time_is_43_minutes_not_10/

There is no solution to remove the 8% and keep one chain. ABC will keep mining only on top of it's own chain (the one with 8%), even if minority.

>Signalling that you're running new software is usually not a good idea What we are asking, is a signal what new rules they prefer, not what software they currently use, or will use, or did use. The problem is, they DO NOT run the pool. They are small hashers, hashing at some pool. So their words in the article about general state of mining on BCH can not be taken.

>So you are saying that BCH will drop from 2.3% SHA256 hashrate to 2.11%? I gave the explanation how mining works - if you take away 8% of the revenue, the same ratio of hashrate won't be profitable anymore. But.. as you can see, on the news of this 8% IFP, the price of BCH immediately increased by almost the same amount, meaning that hashrate will stay the same. It could also mean, that market don't see IFP as a bad thing.

Of course I get it. And the market already compensated on the news of 8% IFP. To be clear, I supported the last IFP, because I think that mandatory funding is a viable way of funding infrastructure development, and last IFP could be voted on my miners and had several addresses. This IFP is different. If there is only one receiving address, controlled by ABC, then I do not support it.

Miners do NOT lose anything, their profit will be the SAME, with or without 8% IFP. I know, I know! It sounds strange! But that's how mining works. With IFP, the profitability will decrease, some miners will leave, DAA will compensate (lower) difficulty and those that stay will have the same profit as if IFP isn't there. What's the consequence then, you ask? There is 8% less hash mining on the chain, and 8% less secure chain.

>How the money will be distributed? Who said anything about distribution? By the wording of the announcement, it will be ABC's money only. This has to be explained more in detail by ABC.

The thing is, miners are ASKING for years, for some way of MANDATORY financing of development from mining rewards. First meetings on this subject go back to May 2018, IIRC.

That's a good description. Even with minority hash, BCHN can mint several blocks in a row and with that penalization and finalization code in place, can end on its own chain.

It's not Amaury alone, he has a team of developers and managers (~~6~~ 8 I think) but it is $7.8M/year.

"This was a reply to somebody in a thread" That is how you started. I saw your original comment in that thread. It was under the new ABC's anouncement. It's not IFP.

There is no concrete specification yet, but the wording of the announcement was like "ABC will set up an address and all new block will pay **US** 8% of a block reward." In a word, this would be ABC's private fund.

Your shilling went overboard. There is no concrete specification what "address" will be in the code and you are making things up in this post. What I think is, that ABC will set up ONE address, their own address, and say it's our fucking money! That's more in line with their announcement then your post and this fairtale "The projects that will be aligned with BCH will receive funding, while projects that are not will not receive any kind of funding!" I hate when people shill with such shameless lies like you are!
